DIRECT CURRENT’s mainstage season draws to a close with an evening of music and poetry from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame music icon and National Book Award-winning writer Patti Smith; her daughter, the composer, instrumentalist and activist Jesse Paris Smith; and Canadian cellist and composer Rebecca Foon, a co-founder of the Juno Award-winning Esmerine ensemble.
To complete the evening, the three women will lead the audience in the D.C. premiere of Little Sunrise, an interactive lightshow by trailblazing Danish-Icelandic visual artist Olafur Eliasson. This features the solar-powered LED lamps Eliasson designed for off-grid areas, as seen at Coachella and London’s Tate Modern.
