Grief and loss are topics very dear to Jesse's heart and she has made a great effort throughout the years processing, exploring, navigating, and healing through her own experiences of loss, beginning with the greatest loss of her life: the death of her father when she was 7 years old. Wishing to share her own experiences while devoting herself to helping others, she has completed a significant amount of professional training and continued study in this area, using her time and energy to better serve those who are suffering. She also feels deeply passionate about the socio-cultural expectations and oppression around grief, especially in our Western culture, and is passionate about shifting the world into a supportive place of understanding, vulnerability, and genuine compassion surrounding the subjects of death, loss, and grief.
Grief Support Bio:
Jesse holds professional certification as a Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Method, and as a Creative Grief Support Coach through the Creative Grief Studio. In addition to grief and bereavement, she has also studied thanatology and death education through both the Art of Dying Institute, and the Association for Death Educators and Counselors (ADEC). She has also taken many specialized courses through other professional organizations, such as The Institute of Child Psychology and The Dougy Institute, which focus on supporting children and teens. Jesse is a graduate of the 2014 class of the Sound and Music Institute(SMI), an in-depth professional training focused on integrative practices of therapeutic music and sound. Her personal track of focus during this training was ‘Music and Sound for Grief and Loss.’ Following the program, she was trained by Dr. Louise Montello as Performance Wellness coach, a transformative practice focused on disarming the inner critic and engaging with the inner child in order to combat our struggles with performance anxiety and ideas of self worth. Louise died suddenly and unexpectedly in 2014 during the time of Jesse’s training, an shocking loss which inspired her to continue to share Louise’s teachings in order to benefit others as greatly as possible and to keep the practice of Performance Wellness alive and thriving. For Jesse, these healing modalities and important subjects are deeply connected with powerful and natural intersections, just as the web of our own personal stories and our shared relational world. Her personal practice continues to develop as she builds her own bridges and connections, all under the overarching scope of being of service to others. Jesse has also been a Moderator for the Creative Grief Studio’s online certification program since Fall 2021, helping students on their own track to becoming Creative Grief Support Coaches.
From Jesse: Together we will discover what type of support is best for you. We will work together as a team. If there is ever a time when I do not feel equipped with the tools, knowledge, or strategies to help you further, I will be honest and can always refer you to other professionals or specialists who will be able to assist you better than I am able to. My greatest wish and only intention is to use my skills, knowledge, and energy to bring more comfort, support, and warmhearted compassion into your life. My greatest desire is to help you navigate the healing of your heart and rediscover your own personal power. I will be here to share and listen. <3
